Do they want? I ask my father after he emails this photo, taken from the frozen Missouri River.
My father speculates: Yes, they do want. They want a ride home.
Do they know what home feels like? I write back.

I think they know what home feels like. The question is, do they feel at home wherever they are, or do they always long for some other place, the something that drives them to migrate? I love the photograph.
